Tattoo News - January 2008
ON THE MAINLAND
The best hula performance I have seen in some time is KAHEKILI, a production largely choreographed by Hokulani Holt of Maui, and made possible by an NEA grant. See http://mauinews.com/magazine/2007/10/11/03Back1011.html The schedule of both Hawai'i and mainland performances is at http://www.mauiarts.org/Kahekili.html
NEW BOOKS
There is a new book on Maori tattoo called Mau Moko: The World of Maori Tattoo. It is available on Amazon, just search books for Mau Moko. It is a bit pricey, but I just received mine & it's gorgeous!
ON THE WEB
One of my favorite museums and websites is online at http://www.worldofwearableart.co.nz/ Here are some of the most creative examples of body art you might ever encounter. I bought the DVD & it is GREAT! Highly recommended!
Tattoonesia, a festival of tattoo took place on Tahiti in early November. There are a few articles online, see http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.tahitipresse.pf/index.cfm%3Fsnav%3Dsee%26presse%3D22034&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=5&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dtattoonesia%2B2007%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG
