ON THE WEB

As you might know, I just returned from Aotearoa (New Zealand) so this issues links have a Maori focus.

A great list of links to New Zealand authors, bookstores, libraries & literary sources is at http://www.enzed.com/bk.html There is a lot of Maori literature online! Also check out the list of bookstores at the bottom. There's a LOT of books published in NZ that are near impossible to find in the states, even tattoo books!

There are a lot of Maori arts sites: http://www.aotearoa.co.nz/ for a good list of links to high quality arts & crafts. Also see: http://maoriart.net/, http://www.kiwiartz.co.nz/ , http://www.maori-arts.com/ and http://www.craftdirectory.co.nz/ Boy, I could go on & on... I keep finding more-- http://www.maori-arts.com/shops/index.htm To learn a LOT about Maori art
& culture, see http://www.maori.org.nz/s_show/tukutuku/

If you have an interest in woodcarving, definately check out the various links at http://www.maori.org.nz/whakairo/ There is a lot here on the meaning & origin of design-- this good inspiration for tattooists, but remember to change it! Make it your own! Maori patterns are ancestoral, so we don't want you wearing someone's family pattern. Be original!

There is a lot online on Maori moko, or traditional tattoo. For a list of links, go to http://www.maori.org.nz/links/dirSub.asp?catid=1&subid=116 and scroll down a bit.
