Tattoo News - March 2006

ON THE WEB

In looking for good links to include here, I found very little focusing on Polynesian tattoo. There is a irectory with some links that might prove interesting at http://www.zeroland.co.nz/tattoos.html Another directory is at http://www.pelusa.net/polynasian.htm

One of the better articles I found (although on Body Art, not specifically tattoo) is that of the Smithsonian Institution. It is at http://www.nmnh.si.edu/anthro/outreach/anthnote/Winter01/anthnote.html Linking from this site is an excellent, well-researched overview of Polynesian tattoo by Adrienne Kaeppler. Look for the link titled "Tattooed Beauty: A Pacific Case Study."

A good article on Polynesian tattoo among the surf community appeared in the Honolulu Star Bulletin Sept 1, 2000. It is online at:

BOOKS

My book is now in press and should be available for purchase in late April. For a preview of the cover, check my book designer's website: http://www.carolcolbathdesign.com/

TATTOO SCHEDULE

March & April: Home in Hawai'i. I will be on Maui, Kaua'i and the Big Island lecturing & doing book signings during April-- check my next newsletter for specific dates.

The following dates are tentative and may vary, but only slightly:

May 10 - 16 Livermore (east SF bay area)
May 18 - 21 Aloha Warehouse in San Francisco
May 27 - June 7 Island Legends in LA
June 10 - 18 Momilani's in Oceanside

The deadline for deposits this next CA trip is April 1st, but the sooner, the better, as priority in scheduling is given according to the date of your deposit. There are already a large number signed up in LA (I can accept about 8 more). San Francisco, Livermore & Oceanside are filling more slowly, but don't snooze! Call me at home on O'ahu if you have any questions: 808 734-8677. I far prefer the phone for initial inquiries as I talk far faster than I type, but if you prefer e-mail, it's tattoo@lava.net. Details on signing up are on my website at:
