Tattoo News - September-October 2013
NEWS A surprising move by the Washington, DC Dept. of Heath proposes to mandate a 24 hour waiting period on all tattooing and body modification. It is highly unlikely that such a bill could ever pass, and somewhat appalling that such a measure would even be proposed! See http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/washington--dc-may-institute-24-hour-waiting-period-for-tattoos-and-piercings--183010474.html ONLINE The ongoing controversy regarding non-Samoans wearing traditional pe'a, as well as the Nike women's leggings that were produced (and then immediately pulled of the market) is discussed in a newspaper article from the Samoa Observer: http://www.samoaobserver.ws/other/tourism/6848-master-tufuga-defends-tattoo-trade A brief, but informative article on Maori Moko is at http://nzetc.victoria.ac.nz/tm/scholarly/tei-PalMoko-t1-body-d1-d2.html A good website on Croatian tattoos is http://tetoviranicovjek.bloger.index.hr/post/hello-world-traditional-croatian-tattoo-is-back/17189410.aspx There is also an excellent Facebook page for the FB users out there-- https://www.facebook.com/pages/Traditional-Croatian-Tattoo/222413247770680 EVENTS SACRAMENTO: On Sunday, September 29th at 6PM there will be a reception & book signing at Sideshow Tattoo at 2111 28th St. Come!
