This time I'll feature Charles Fredrick Goldie, another early artist that did spectacular paintings of tattooed Maori. For those of you outside the hula community -- Merrie Monarch is a HUGE International hula festival & competition held in honor of King Kalakaua, the monarch who largely revived hula in the later part of the 1800s. http://www.merriemonarch.com/ The event draws tens of thousands if folks worldwide. Immediately afterward I'll be on the Big Island for Merrie Monarch, returning home on May 3rd. My next CA trip will be late May through the first week of June in the LA area, then up to SF in mid to late June. I will be back again to all 3 cities (LA, SF and Oceanside) in Aug/Sept.
