SEATTLE: The National Tattoo Convention is taking place in Seattle April 15–18th at the Airport Doubletree Hotel. This is one of the best conventions going! I’ll be giving 2 seminars—one on the revival of the art in Polynesia on Sat. evening at 7 pm, and then an overview of the ancient art Sunday at noon. See http://www.nationaltattooassociation.com/convention/index.html for details. You must register for the convention to attend seminars, but there will be a LOT happening so it’s well worth it.

LOS ANGELES: Santa Monica College is hosting a lecture & book signing on Thurs. May 27th at 7:00 pm at HSS165. The presentation is A Tattoo Tour of Polynesia and is a fun, fast-moving illustrated overview of the Polynesian tattoo in ancient times. Call (310) 434-4303 for details, or see http://www.smc.edu/apps/Pub.asp?Q=2057 and scroll down the page. Refreshments will follow.

SAN CLEMENTE: On May 29th the Hawaiian Surf Club is having their annual Lu’au in San Clemente. It’s a great, fun day in the park with island arts, food, music and dance. I’ll have a booth, so stop by & say hi! Details are at
http://www.hawaiiansurfclub.com/events.htm

CARLSBAD: Vinaka Café in the Carlsbad Village Square will be the locale for a photo exhibition of images from the new book. We’re working on an opening reception which should take place on Memorial Day weekend—details & exact time TBA. Vinaka is a great island-theme independent coffee house & the tattoo images there should be just stunning! We hope to have several brief music & dance performances from Polynesian friends in the area. It should really be a fun event! It’s the first exhibition of prints from the new book. Come help make it a success!

Tattooist/woodcarver Jordan Souza will most likely be working with me in So CA during May & June. Jordan does a wider variety of styles than I do—see his work on his FACEBOOK page and e-mail if you are interested in booking with him.
