Marks of the Ancestors, Tattoo Traditions of the Pacific

Friday Oct 16th from 6-8pm you are invited to the Pacific tattoo exhibition at the Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum is having the VIP Preview & Reception, please come! Over 40 stunning photographs of amazing Polynesian tattoos by over 35 artists, as well as a historical display are on exhibit. This is the first exhibition of it's kind on the mainland, focusing explicitly on Pacific tattoo.  FREE ADMISSION.

Next Friday, October 23rd 6:00 pm guest-curator Tricia Allen will be giving a PowerPoint presentation on the historical and cultural practices. Fun topics and incredible tattoo trivia such as I certain islands within the Marshall Islands a community had to choose a champion who would undergo a torture ceremony to win the right for his village to be tattooed.
